Walloon Region

In the Walloon Region, different sectorial and integral conditions apply to the storage of flammable liquids and the operation of petrol stations, namely: “Decree of the Walloon Government on the amendment of Title III of the General Regulation on Labour Protection as regards the installation and operation of petrol stations” and “Decree of the Walloon Government on the amendment of Title III of the General Regulation on Labour Protection as regards the insertion of specific provisions for the installation and operation of petrol stations”.

This legislation obliges the end-user to have a number of compulsory initial and periodic examinations carried out, for which we are accredited:

  • initial inspectionof new installations
  • annual inspection
  • overall inspection (10 – yearly)
  • tightness test
  • supervision during the placement of an underground container
  • measuring cathodic protection
  • resistance determination and ph measurement of soil
  • stray current measurement
  • stage II measurements

By way of derogation from these exploitation installations, there is a separate decree of the Walloon Government for distribution installations of liquid fuels with a flash point higher than 55°C and equal to or less than 100°C, for motor vehicles, for commercial purposes other than sale to the public, such as the distribution of hydrocarbons for motor vehicles under own management or for own use, with a maximum of two pistols and provided that the storage capacity of the hydrocarbon storage place is equal to or greater than 3,000 litres and less than 25,000 litres (integral condition – 27 November 2007)
